As states transition from monolithic MMIS to modular MES, there are many risks to consider. The greatest area of vulnerability along the modularization journey is the integration of the core claims/financial module with the system integration platform and other MES modules. This integration is the core of the MES. If it doesn’t work, it can disrupt vital services to Medicaid recipients and derail the entire MES program.
 
The typical modular MES journey is 4-7 years, requiring a comprehensive and long-term approach that mitigates risk throughout. This session will lay out practical strategies for ensuring a smooth and successful MES implementation based on one state’s modularization journey.
