The launch of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in July 2022 came at a time when many were in dire need of help. Statistics show that 1 in 4 people in the US has a mental health or substance use disorder. While many states took this opportunity to revamp their behavioral health crisis response, others were solely focused on making sure they could answer the phone when someone called, texted or chatted the lifeline. Since then, call volumes across the country have exploded with more and more people seeking help for behavioral health conditions. During this session, you will hear from states about how they have planned, implemented and are fine-tuning their behavioral health crisis response based on the individual needs of their local communities. Learn first-hand how your state can help expedite care for people experiencing behavioral health crisies and help curb our country’s epidemic.
